What we do ?

Nuru Lutheran Media Ministry has actively undertaken diverse programs aimed at transforming lives and spreading the Gospel. Key initiatives include prison visitation, where we minister to inmates and provide spiritual nourishment, and the Weekend Challenge, which offers intensive evangelistic and discipleship programs. Our programs Include;

Radio Programs

Our radio program uses short, precise, and humor-filled dramas to address social disputes within society, offering Christian perspectives for resolving conflicts. The show highlights culture. Solutions but emphasizes the Christian way as an alternative. These programs air during the evenings, when families are home, on leading vernacular stations across various markets.

The programs are broadcast during prime hours when families gather for dinner, ensuring
maximum reach. Unlike typical religious broadcasts, our content tackles real-life issues and
provides resolutions from a Christian perspective, all while being engaging and humorous.

We aim to connect with families, people involved in social disputes, and non-Christians who may not attend church. This program also appeals to those who have distanced themselves from church life, offering them a path through forgiveness and renewed faith.

Automated Messaging

This program involves direct interaction with our respondents, particularly through follow-up after outreach events like medical camps. The primary goal is to connect individuals to the local church.

The primary objective is to connect the unchurched and dechurched with local congregations, helping churches grow both spiritually and numerically. Through mobile phones, which are widely used across Kenya, we can also gather feedback on how our programs impact lives.

Events & Performances

We utilize Christian films, such as the Jesus film translated into local languages, to share the gospel. This outreach takes place during weekends, with staff collaborating with local congregations. We screen the films in schools, prisons, marketplaces, and churches, often as open-air events.

We have a four-member drama team trained to perform various genres, including songs, poetry, and storytelling. They perform in churches, schools, and community spaces, while also training others to carry on this work.

The public, including students, prisoners, and unchurched individuals, is the primary audience for these performances. Drama often appeals to a wide audience, making it an effective tool for outreach.

Youth Programs (Project JOEL)

Project JOEL provides Christian teachings to help youth make healthy life decisions, focusing on the dangers of substance abuse and negative lifestyles. This program operates in schools, colleges, and Sunday schools, providing moral guidance from a Christian viewpoint.

Youth in primary, and secondary schools and colleges are the focus, as we seek to guide them towards positive choices in life.

Booths/Fairs for Outreach

We work closely with Lutheran choirs to conduct evangelism in prisons and local communities. Each choir is assigned a prison to visit, helping foster a culture of outreach.

Prisoners and nearby communities are the main focus, as we aim to spread the gospel and reduce social isolation. Lutheran choirs are well known and can significantly impact this ministry.

Personal Evangelism

Our program encourages volunteers and former Nuru staff to introduce unreached groups to our ministry. We target young graduates, dechurched individuals, and Muslims, aiming to build spiritual connections and increase church attendance.

Young professionals, the dechurched, and the general public are invited to engage in Bible discussions and evangelism efforts.

Prison Ministry

We provide counseling, film screenings, drama, and Bible studies to inmates and warders. We aim to bring the gospel to this often-forgotten group, offering spiritual transformation and guidance for reintegration into society.

Prisoners, warders, and their families, as are often marginalized and in need of spiritual hope and restoration.

Medical Camp Outreach

In collaboration with LCMS and the ELCK Church, we provide free health clinics, eye care, and VCT services in underserved areas. This program also involves film showings and direct witnessing to spread the gospel.

Marginalized, rural communities are the focus, particularly those with limited access to healthcare and religious outreach.

Evangelism Training (ETS)

Our Evangelism Training Sessions (ETS) empower local church volunteers to share the gospel effectively. The training spans four days, concluding with a Sunday service where volunteers are presented to the congregation for continued service.

Volunteers chosen by church elders are trained to engage their communities in evangelism.

Bible Correspondence Courses (BCC)

Literate adults, refugees, youth, prisoners, and nominal Lutherans are the main audience for this
program, as we aim to bring back those who have strayed from the church.

Holistic Outreach

We provide spiritual counseling and vocational training (such as sewing, soap-making, and hairdressing) to young women involved in prostitution. This initiative also supports former inmates by offering them new opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.

This program offers HIV testing and counseling, supporting affected individuals with social and spiritual care. We work closely with churches to reduce stigma and provide emotional support.

We help bail out women imprisoned for petty offenses, reunite them with their families, and provide counseling.

Young women, HIV-affected individuals, and incarcerated mothers are our primary focus, offering them a second chance through spiritual and vocational support.
