Jesus Saved Me now i have hope
Daniel Kamau, 76 years old, still operates his cobbler shop—a trade he has practiced for the last 50 years. For many years, he had a habit of indulging in the local brew. He frequently visited nearby pubs, enjoying the camaraderie of fellow drinkers as they shared stories and laughter over glasses of beer. Drinking had become a routine part of his life, a way to unwind after long days spent hunched over his workbench. Daniel was not a committed Christian and only attended church occasionally, mainly during Christmas and New Year's Eve. However, everything changed one fateful week when a team from the Nuru Lutheran Media Ministry, in collaboration with the local church, embarked on a mission to spread the word of God in the community. Despite his age and established routine, something stirred within Daniel as he watched the team fervently prepare for their journey. Their passion and conviction ignited a longing in his heart—a longing for something more than the fleeting pleasures of alcohol. As the Nuru Lutheran Media Ministry set off on their three-day mission, Daniel found himself grappling with newfound thoughts and emotions. Memories of his past choices and the realization of his mortality weighed heavily on his mind. In the quiet solitude of his workshop, he began contemplating the purpose and meaning of his existence. On the final day of the mission, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, Daniel was convicted by the Holy Spirit and surrendered his life to Christ. Though the journey ahead is uncertain and filled with challenges, Daniel now faces it with a newfound sense of purpose and faith. As he continues to walk the path of righteousness, his story serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who know him in the town and its surrounding areas. With his eyes gleaming with renewed faith, Daniel exclaimed, "Jesus changed my heart. Now I have hope." A staff member, witnessing the transformation, remarked, "His testimony embodies the impact of our ministry—bringing hope and purpose to lives through the love of Christ."

Imprisoned for 10 years ...nobody to visit...
James Onyancha, a 45-year-old inmate at Shimo la Tewa Prison in Mombasa, has spent the last 20 years behind bars. A former mechanic, he was convicted of a crime he insists he did not commit. The harsh reality of imprisonment shattered his hope, leaving him in deep despair. At his lowest point, he even contemplated suicide but never found the opportunity to carry out his intentions. Skeptical of religion, James viewed believers as hypocrites, judging faith by the conduct of those who professed it. However, a turning point came when he heard a Lutheran Hour Ministry staff member preaching on the theme of "Forgive and Forget." The message, guided by the Holy Spirit, deeply convicted him and led him to a personal encounter with Christ. Moved by the sermon, James immediately enrolled in our Bible Correspondence Course (BCC), eager to learn and grow in faith. Over time, he has shown remarkable spiritual transformation, steadily embracing the teachings of the Bible and finding renewed hope in God. His journey is a testimony of the life-changing power of the Gospel, even within prison walls. We thank God for the progress James has made and continue to pray for his spiritual growth. His story is a powerful reminder that no one is beyond God's reach, and His grace can transform even the most broken of hearts. James also shared a heartfelt request: "I have been imprisoned for a long time now. Nobody from my family has visited me for the last 10 years. It is my humble request that if Nuru staff ever have an opportunity to visit my home county of Nyamira, kindly inform them that I am still alive, a changed person, and they should visit me."
